Beginners

For all you beginners out there who want to learn how to save but don’t think you have the time to look for deals or are too shy to walk into a store with dozens of coupons…whatever the excuse may be!  Not to worry because I will provide you with as much information as possible and detail every deal I can find.  Just as I have, you will most likely become very familiar with certain stores and employees, which for me has always made for a positive shopping experience.  In the beginning I thought some cashiers would run at the sight of me, but over time they were fascinated and praised me for such amazing savings!  You will see that my shopping experiences are pretty simple and straightforward…and before you know it, you’ll have a small stockpile of all sorts of household and personal items for pennies and even FREE!!!

Ok, so here’s how to get started…
START COLLECTING COUPONS
1. Get the Sunday newspaper (or 2 at the very least). It will be filled with weekly store sales and most importantly COUPON INSERTS!  Become familiar with the names Smart Source, Procter & Gamble, and Red Plum.
2. Search the web for printable internet coupons.  The main 3 sites are Coupons.com, SmartSource.com, and RedPlum.com.  Among those, you will find that a lot of products will occasionally have coupons posted on their website or facebook page.  You will be able to print 2 coupons per computer.  Please do not make photocopies because it is considered fraud.  Each coupon has a unique series of numbers either under the bar code or shown as a pin code.  When the store sends the coupons to the manufacturer and it is photocopy, the store does not get reimbursed.  Due to so many people doing this, a lot of stores are cracking down and will be stricter with accepting internet printable coupons.
3. Look out for different types of Store Coupons:
Catalinaa coupon that prints out from the register with your receipt.
Peelies – coupons that can be peeled off from the product at the store.
Blinkies – a little black box found in the aisle at the store that spits out coupons.
Tear Pads – a coupon tear off pad that is usually displayed next to the product.
GET ORGANIZED
You’ll need to figure out a way to organize your coupons.  You can use the envelope method, file/expandable folders, or binder.  I use a combination of a binder with A-Z dividers and plastic baseball card sleeves, plus an envelope where I separate the specific coupons I will use on a trip so I don’t have to go searching  through my binder.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, FIND THE DEALS
